Starting Lineup

Beltrán · Giménez · Rivero · De La Cuesta · Galarza Fonda · Costantini · Lencina · Meza · Ruberto · González · Woiski

River focuses on controlling the middle of the pitch through a heavy central presence. This team utilizes a 3-5-2 formation to dominate games and win possession. The lineup is built to play with high intensity and win it back high up the pitch to keep the pressure on the opponent at all times.

Beltrán stays between the posts to lead the defensive unit. A back three consists of González, Rivero, and Giménez. González and Giménez act as wide centre-backs to cover the space behind the midfield, while Rivero sits centrally to command the area. They will often set the offside trap and play out from the back to start attacks. The unit works to stay compact and force a long ball from the opposition.

In the midfield, River seeks to dictate the tempo. De La Cuesta and Galarza Fonda operate as a double pivot to shield the defence and deny the pivot of the other team. Lencina and Meza act as the connectors, often dropping deep to receive or play through the lines to find the attackers. Costantini works alongside them to drive forward with the ball and arrive late into the box. This central block helps the team recycle possession and protect against counter attacks.

Up front, the team uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defence. Ruberto and Woiski work closely together, with one often looking to hold up the ball while the other looks to run in behind. They press from the front to force mistakes in the opposition build up. Such combinations create opportunities to cut it back from the byline when the wide midfielders push up. The goal is to isolate a one on one wide or split the defence with a through ball.

One major advantage for River is the numerical superiority in midfield. Having five players in the middle allows them to compress the midfield and win the second ball easily. Another strength is the ability to press from the front in waves, making it very difficult for opponents to play short from the back. Such speed in transition makes the team very dangerous.

This 3-5-2 formation relies on central dominance and intense pressing. It is best suited for matches against teams that try to play through the middle or teams that struggle to handle heavy pressure.
