Savitar and Velo play as the central midfielders, tasked to press aggressively to win the ball high and protect the back line. Savitar drives forward with the ball to transition the play, while Velo helps to control the tempo and recycle possession. Kata plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers, looking to operate in the pockets between the opposition lines and deliver through balls to the front two.

Ajax uses two forwards in a partnership to lead the line. Luci and Waybackwhen work as a duo, with Luci often looking to play with his back to goal and hold up the ball. Waybackwhen looks for runs in behind to exploit high lines. These two press the opposition back line constantly to force mistakes. The team builds attacks through the wide areas where Prince and Snows can whip it in or cut it back after getting to the byline.

This formation offers the advantage of numerical superiority in the central defensive area when defending deep. The use of Prince and Snows allows for wide overloads, creating situations where the wing backs can overlap the midfielders. Ajax can also transition with great speed, using the passing range of Kata to find the forwards immediately after a turnover.
