Starting Lineup

Internacional focuses on a high press and rapid transitions within a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and exploit spaces behind the opposition defense quickly. The goal is to use the width of the pitch to stretch opponents while remaining very hard to break down when sitting in a mid-block.

Manga guards the goal and oversees the defensive unit. The back line consists of a back three with Caçapava acting as the central defender to win the header and clear the lines. Beside him, Masinho and Figueroa operate as wide centre-backs to cover the channels. Cláudio and Vacaria function as attacking wing backs, pushing high to provide width and support the attack. This defensive unit can shift between a narrow block and a high line to squeeze the space between the lines.

The midfield operates as a two-man pairing in the center. Falcão and Carpegiani act as the engine room, tasked with winning the second ball and recycling possession. Falcão works to connect the defensive and attacking lines, while Carpegiani helps to shield the defense and press aggressively to win the ball high. They must work hard to cover the ground left behind by the wing backs to ensure the team does not get caught out on the break.
