Starting Lineup

Zamalek focuses on a strong defensive presence and rapid transitions using a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup aims to sit deep and absorb pressure before launching quick attacks to catch the opposition out of position. By keeping a compact unit, the team looks to win the second ball and move the play forward with speed.

Sobhy guards the goal as the last line of defense. The back five operates as a narrow defensive block to protect the central areas. Dounga sits in the middle to command the area, supported by Isamaael and Hossam who act as wide centre-backs. Isamaael and Hossam provide cover and look to step up when the ball is played into the middle. On the flanks, Fatoh and Salah act as attacking wing backs, pushing high to provide width and support the attack. The defensive unit works to squeeze the space and deny any easy passing lanes to the striker.

The midfield operates with a double pivot consisting of Elsaed and Naser. These two players are tasked to shield the defense and connect the back five to the front three. The forwards work in combinations to create runs in behind the defense, often relying on the overlapping runs from Fatoh and Salah to create overloads on the flanks.

This formation offers Zamalek significant defensive compactness when defending in a low block. The presence of five defenders makes it difficult for opponents to find space centrally.
