Starting Lineup

Arsenal focuses on a defensively solid identity using a 5-4-1 formation. This lineup is built to play a counter attacking style of football where the primary goal is to deny the opposition space in central areas. The team intends to sit deep and wait for the right moment to break quickly once they win the ball in the middle third.

Trossard plays in goal to command the area and organize the defensive line. The defense sits in a back five to maintain a narrow defensive block and protect the center. Nogaard and Martinelli act as the central defenders, working together to hold the line and win headers. Nwaneri plays as the left centre back to provide cover and sweep behind the line to catch any runners. On the wide areas, Dowman acts as an attacking wing back on the left to provide width, while Merino provides the width on the right side. This unit works to stay compact and shift together to block passing lanes and deny the turn of the striker.

The midfield is organized to control the central zone and link the defense to the attack. Hincapie and Moscuera operate as a central pairing in a mid-block to protect the back five and win the second ball. Skelly plays on the left to track back and support the defense, while White stays on the right to carry the ball forward and drive into space. This midfield unit helps the team recycle possession and find ways to play through the lines when the opposition presses high.

Kepa operates as the lone striker in the front line. His job is to hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates to bring others into the play.
