Matthaus is recognized for his immense stamina and ability to win the second ball. Lahm plays on the right side of this midfield block, often looking to provide width and deliver early crosses, while Breitner occupies the left to drive into the half spaces. This group is designed to squeeze the space and win it back high up the pitch.

In the final third, FC Bayern utilizes four attackers to pin the last defender and create constant chaos. Gerd Müller and Rummenigge operate as a central partnership, with Gerd Müller known for his clinical finishing and movement in the box. Thomas Müller plays on the left side, often moving into pockets of space to act as a shadow striker. Robben occupies the right wing, looking to cut inside and create shooting opportunities. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball and disrupt the build up of the opponent.
