Mateo Joseph plays alongside him, looking to make runs in behind the last defender. The team looks to use the width provided by Toni Lato and Maffeo to whip it in toward Muriqi or play short from the back to find the feet of the forwards.

This formation offers the advantage of extreme compactness when defending in a mid-block. The ability of Toni Lato and Maffeo to overlap the winger allows Mallorca to create wide overloads in the attacking third. Furthermore, the presence of Vedad Muriqi allows the team to go direct when under pressure, using his ability to win the second ball and find Mateo Joseph in space.
