Evert on the right and Maxie on the left operate as wide attackers who can either stay wide to receive long balls or move into central positions to combine in tight spaces. This front three presses from the front to force a long ball from the opponent, creating chances for the midfield to win the second ball.

One major advantage for FC Utrecht is the ability to create numerical superiority in midfield, making it very difficult for opponents to play through the center. The wide midfielders like Dali/Gilles and Cedric/Gilles can also create wide overloads when they push forward.
