Partizan focuses on being defensively solid and playing on the break using a 5-4-1. This formation is built to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting opponents with speed. The lineup is designed to stay compact and hard to break down, making it a difficult unit to play against in low block situations.

Hasanagic stays on his line to guard the goal while the back five maintains a narrow defensive block. Bobek, Miladinovic, and Cajkovski form the central trio to defend the box and win the second ball. Milutinovic acts as an attacking wing back on the left to provide width, while Vukotic operates as the right wing back to cover the flank. The central defenders look to clear the lines and stay tight to deny the turn to any oncoming attackers.

A four man midfield works to squeeze the space in front of the back five. Vasovic and Zebec sit in the middle to shield the defence and recycle possession when needed. Belin stays wide on the left to press from the front and track back when the team loses the ball, while Jusufi covers the right side. This unit helps Partizan connect the defensive line to the lone attacker by winning the ball back in a mid block.

The attacking plan relies on Soskic acting as a lone striker to hold up the ball and wait for support. He must fight against the opposition centre backs to allow the midfielders to join the play. When the team wins the ball, Belin and Jusufi push up to stretch the defence, creating space for Soskic to play a one two or find room to run in behind. The team looks to hit in behind on the transition rather than playing through the thirds slowly.

This formation offers great compactness when defending to deny passing lanes through the middle. The use of wing backs like Milutinovic and Vukotic allows for wide overloads when the team moves forward. By keeping the lines close together, Partizan can transition quickly from a low block to a counter attack.

The 5-4-1 formation is a resilient way to play when the team needs to protect a lead or play against a stronger opponent. It is best suited for matches where the team will have less possession and must rely on defensive discipline and quick breaks.
