Custom Team Football Formation
Starting Lineup
RK · Thunten · Ngawang · Khenpo · Lambu · PT · Sangay · Tsheltrim · Phendey · BoB · Phub/DSThis team relies on a direct, high pressing identity through a 5-2-3 formation. The intention is to win the ball high up the pitch and use the width of the wings to stretch the opposition. This lineup focuses on heavy defensive numbers to protect the central areas while leaving space for rapid transitions.
RK operates between the posts to organize the back line. The defensive unit utilizes a back five, featuring a central trio of PT, Ngawang, and Thunten. PT acts as the main defender to clear the lines, while Ngawang and Thunten provide cover and depth to the central block. On the flanks, Lambu and Khenpo play as attacking wing backs, tasked with providing width and pushing high to support the attack. This group aims to defend zonally and protect the space behind the midfield.
The midfield functions as a double pivot, where Tsheltrim and Sangay work to control the center. These two players are responsible for shielding the defense and picking up runners from deep. Tsheltrim drives forward with the ball to connect the back line to the attackers, while Sangay focuses on recycling possession and cutting off the passing lane to the opponent's strikers. They must work hard to compress the midfield and win the second ball when the high press is triggered.
In the attacking third, the team uses three attackers across the front. BoB and Phub/DS act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to pull the opposing full backs apart, creating space in the middle. Phendey acts as a pressing centre-forward, leading the hunt to force a long ball from the opposition. The team looks to create runs in behind the defense or deliver early crosses from the wings to find the feet of the striker.
One major advantage is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front three to trigger the press. The five defenders provide compactness when defending, making it very hard for opponents to find space centrally. Additionally, the wing backs of this Custom Team can create wide overloads to isolate the opposition wide players in one on one situations.
This 5-2-3 formation is built for teams that want to defend deep and strike with speed on the transition. It is best suited for matches against opponents who commit many players forward and leave gaps in their defensive line.
