Starting Lineup

Gana · Dupé · Ali Abdi · Dante · Vitalino · Bug · Sanson · Lamoine · Ali-Cho · Bordaoui · Boga

Nice aims to play a high tempo game built on directness and aggression, using a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup seeks to overwhelm the opposition through a heavy attacking presence, looking to win the ball high up the pitch and strike quickly before the defense can settle. By committing many players forward, the team intends to pin the opposition back and create constant pressure in the final third.

In goal, Dupé holds the position to organize the defensive unit. The back line operates as a flat back four where Ali Abdi acts as the left back to provide width, while Bug occupies the right back slot. Central defence relies on Dante and Vitalino to hold the line. Dante provides aerial strength and experience to lead the unit, while Vitalino covers the space beside him to ensure the defense stays compact. This defensive unit must be ready to step up to catch attackers offside or drop into a low block if the pressure becomes too intense.

The midfield consists of a double pivot featuring Sanson and Lamoine. These two players must work hard to shield the defence and prevent central breakthroughs. Sanson and Lamoine act as the engine, where one often looks to carry the ball forward to connect the defensive and attacking lines while the other stays deeper to recycle possession. Their job is to win the second ball and immediately find the forwards to bypass the opposition midfield.

The attack is extremely aggressive with four players positioned high. Boga and Ali-Cho operate as wide wingers, with Boga looking to cut inside to create goal scoring chances. Bordaoui and Gana lead the line as two forwards in a partnership, tasked with playing as a pressing centre-forward duo. They work to force the opposition into mistakes and make runs in behind to exploit any gaps. The movement of the wingers combined with the central presence of Bordaoui and Gana is designed to stretch the defence and create space in the channels.

One major advantage for Nice is the ability to press in coordinated waves, using the front four to trigger a press high up the pitch. This creates immediate chaos for the opponent. Another strength is the ability to hit in behind on the transition, as the heavy presence of Boga, Ali-Cho, Bordaoui, and Gana allows for quick strikes before the opposition can recover.

This 4-2-4 formation is built for a high risk, high reward style of football. It is best suited for games where Nice wants to dominate an opponent through sheer attacking numbers and rapid transitions.
