Starting Lineup

Suzuki · Delprato · Circati · Ndiaye · Almqvist · Valeri · Keità · Bernabè · Sørensen · Cutrone · Pellegrino

Parma plays a vertical style of football built around a three five two formation. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and hit in behind on the transition to catch the opponent out of position. This lineup relies on quick movements and direct play to move the ball from the defensive third into the attacking third as fast as possible.

Suzuki operates as the goalkeeper behind a back three. Circati sits in the center of the defensive line to win the header and clear the lines when under pressure. Ndiaye and Delprato play as wide centre backs to provide cover for the wide areas. When the team plays a high line, Ndiaye and Delprato must step up to maintain the line and squeeze the space, while they also defend zonally to keep the unit compact.

The midfield functions with a single pivot to control the center of the pitch. Keità acts as the defensive anchor to shield the defense and intercept passes. Beside him, Sørensen and Bernabè work as the central duo. Bernabè has the ability to carry the ball forward into the half spaces, while Sørensen connects the defensive and attacking lines by recycling possession. This trio works to win the second ball and ensure the team maintains control in the middle.

When attacking, Parma uses a partnership of two forwards. Pellegrino and Cutrone work in tandem to pin the last defender and make runs in behind the back line. Width is provided by Valeri and Almqvist, who act as attacking wing backs. They push high to overlap the midfielders and get to the byline to whip it in or cut it back for the strikers. The two forwards also press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

One major advantage for Parma is the numerical superiority they can achieve in the center of the pitch. By positioning three players in the middle, they can bypass the midfield of a two man unit. The team also uses wide overloads from Valeri and Almqvist to stretch the defence. This movement creates space for Cutrone and Pellegrino to operate in the channels or arrive late into the box.

This three five two formation provides a robust central presence combined with heavy width. It is a lineup best suited for facing teams that play with a narrow midfield and struggle to handle overlapping wing backs.
