JOSEP starts between the posts to organize the back line. The defense operates as a flat back four with Bastoni and Akanji acting as the central pairing. Bastoni is a ball playing defender who can progress through the thirds with his passing range, while Akanji provides aerial strength and covers the space behind. Dimarco acts as an attacking full back to provide width on the left, whereas E.Garcia stays more conservative to help protect the flank. The unit works together to squeeze the space and maintain a high line.

The midfield functions with a single pivot to shield the defense. Captain A.Stankovic* sits in the hole to intercept passes and win the second ball. Ahead of him, Barella and Sucic operate as two much more advanced midfielders. Barella is known for his high pressing intensity and ability to carry the ball forward, while Sucic connects the lines by recycling possession. This trio works to compress the midfield and ensure the team stays compact when the ball is lost.

In the attacking third, Inter uses three attackers to stretch the defense. Lautaro acts as a pressing centre-forward who leads the line and looks to find the feet of the striker in tight spaces. V.Carboni* and Gnonto play as inverted wingers who cut inside to create chances or shoot. This movement creates space for Dimarco to overlap the winger on the left side. The forwards press the opposition back line to force a long ball and regain control quickly.

A major strength of this Inter lineup is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, which forces opponents into errors. The team also benefits from wide overloads when the full backs push up to join the attack.
