The attacking front line uses three players to harass the opposition back line. Merentiel acts as a pressing centre forward to disrupt the build up play of the opponents. Zenón plays on the left as an inverted winger to cut inside and create, while Aguirre stays wide on the right to provide width. This trio works in combinations to create runs in behind and find space between the defenders. They look to move the ball quickly to exploit any gaps found in the opposition defensive line.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By having five midfielders and three attackers, Boca can flood the opponent's half to win the ball back quickly.
