Algeria relies on a high press and rapid transition play within a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to sit in a mid-block and wait for the right moment to strike. The tactical identity centers on being defensively solid before launching vertical attacks to catch the opposition off guard. The team focuses on winning the second ball to start quick moves forward.

Zidane guards the goal and manages the defensive line. The back five features Bentaleb in the central role, supported by Mandi and Bensebaini as the two side central defenders. Mandi is dominant in the air during set pieces and defensive headers. Atal and Aït-Nouri function as attacking wing backs who push high to provide width. The defensive unit can drop into a low block to deny the turn to strikers or step up to catch opponents offside.

In the middle of the pitch, Algeria employs a double pivot with Bennacer and Aouar. Bennacer acts as a deep lying playmaker who can recycle possession and find teammates with his passing range. A key strength is the ability to create wide overloads when Atal and Aït-Nouri overlap the wingers. This forces the opposition to defend in much larger areas.
