Schmeichel stays between the posts to organize the defensive line and sweep behind the back four. Carter-Vickers and Scales operate as the central defenders, with Carter-Vickers providing aerial strength and Scales acting as a covering defender to handle long balls. Tierney acts as an attacking full back who pushes high up the pitch to provide width, while Ralston plays as a more balanced wide defender to help manage the flanks. The defensive unit works to squeeze the space and keep the team compact when they do not have the ball.

The midfield operates as a three-man unit with McGregor acting as the single pivot. McGregor shields the defence and looks to recycle possession to keep the tempo high. Hatate works as one of the two central midfielders, often driving forward with the ball to join the attack, while McCowan links the midfield to the front line by finding pockets of space. This trio works to control the middle of the park and trigger a press when the ball enters their zone.

In the attacking phase, Iheanacho plays as the lone striker, acting as a focal point to hold up the ball and link with others. Maeda operates as an inverted winger on the right, using his immense pressing intensity to harass defenders and make runs in behind. Tounekti provides width on the left before cutting inside to create overloads. The team builds attacks by playing through the lines or using the wingers to stretch the defence, creating space for late runs into the box from the midfield.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, led by Maeda and Iheanacho. The presence of Hatate and McCowan allows for numerical superiority in the central areas during transitions. Celtic can also use the overlapping runs of Tierney to create wide overloads, making it difficult for the opposition to defend the flanks.

This 4-3-3 lineup is designed to dominate games through aggressive pressing and rapid transitions. It is most effective against teams that try to play out from the back under pressure.
