Starting Lineup

Aiming for a compact and counter attacking identity, Atlético plays a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup focuses on sitting deep to deny space between the lines and looking to strike quickly once the ball is won. The team relies on defensive solidity and quick transitions to catch opponents off guard.

Budin guards the goal as the last line of defense. The back five consists of Safwan and Fauzan in the center with Sahlan positioned as the left center back. To provide width, Madan acts as the left wing back while Ican pushes high as the right wing back. This grouping allows the defenders to shift across the pitch and cover gaps, with the central defenders staying close to protect the area while the wide defenders manage the flanks.

The midfield works as a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. Izal and Irsan occupy the two central roles, tasked with breaking up play and finding teammates. These two must work to intercept passes and shield the back three. Their main job is to win the ball and immediately look to break the line with vertical passes to the front three, connecting the defensive unit to the attackers.

The attack uses three players to pressure the opposition. Idan leads the line as the lone striker to hold up the ball and provide a focal point. On the wings, Adi operates on the left and Coach plays on the right. These two attackers move into wide areas to stretch the defense or cut inside to create goal scoring chances. They also press the opposition full backs to force mistakes and win possession high up the pitch.

One major strength of Atlético is the compactness when defending in a low block. The proximity of the five defenders to the two midfielders makes it very hard for opponents to play through the middle. Another advantage is the ability to create wide overloads when Ican and Madan push up the flanks. This movement forces the opposition to stretch, leaving more room in the center for Idan to find space.

This formation provides a heavy defensive presence that is difficult to break down. It is best suited for games against teams that dominate possession where Atlético can sit deep and use the speed of transition to punish them.
