Selangor prefers to play a high press and quick vertical football. This team utilizes a 4-3-3 formation to hunt the ball high up the pitch and punish opponents on the break. The lineup is built to win the ball back quickly and use the speed of the front three to break the line of the opposition defense.

Defensive duties begin with the Defensive GK who stays deep to protect the goal. In front of him, a flat back four provides the foundation. Destroyer sits at RCB to win tackles and mark the striker, while Build Up plays at LCB to pass out from the back. The wide players have contrasting roles, as the Defensive Full-Back at RB sits deep to hold the line, whereas the Attacking Full-Back at LB pushes up to overlap in the final third. This unit works to keep the team compact when the opponent has the ball.

The midfield operates with a varied single pivot and two advanced roles. Anchor Man sits at LCM to shield the defense and intercept passes. Next to him, Destroyer works at RCM to press opponents and disrupt their build up play. The Creative Playmaker operates at AM to connect the defense to the attack, finding ways to pass through the lines. This trio ensures Selangor can control the center of the pitch while maintaining balance.

An aggressive front three drives the attacking output. The team uses three attackers, with two Hole Players occupying the LW and RW positions. These players make runs into the pockets of space to pull defenders out of position. In the center, the Goal Poacher acts as a lone striker, looking to find space in the box and finish crosses. The attackers press in a coordinated wave to force turnovers high up the field.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. The presence of a Destroyer in both the defense and midfield allows Selangor to win second balls and disrupt the rhythm of the opposition. Wide overloads are common when the Attacking Full-Back overlaps the Hole Player on the left. Additionally, the high pressing from the Goal Poacher and the two wide players makes it difficult for the opponent to play out from the back.

The 4-3-3 formation provides a balance of defensive grit and attacking speed. It is best suited for matches against teams that try to play a high line or struggle against intense physical pressing.
