Starting Lineup

Prioritizing heavy verticality and rapid attacks, Como operates with a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup aims to overwhelm the opponent through concentrated central pressure and aggressive forward runs. The team relies on high intensity to win the ball back quickly in the middle third.

Butez sits between the posts to guard the goal. Ahead of him, the defensive unit consists of a two man central pairing with Posch and D. Carlos. These two central defenders must act as ball playing anchors who step up to intercept passes. Because there are no traditional full backs, Posch and D. Carlos must cover vast amounts of space to prevent runners from getting behind. They must hold a high line to squeeze the pitch and keep the team compact.

The midfield acts as the engine room for Como. A double pivot featuring Caqueret and Valle provides the base, where they shield the back two and break the line with vertical passes. Da Cunha and Perrone operate in the half spaces to drive forward and connect the defense to the attack. Paz plays as the attacking ten, looking to find pockets of space and deliver through balls. This five man midfield block allows the team to control the center of the pitch and move the ball quickly from side to side.

In the final third, the team uses three attackers to pin the opposition defense. Douvikas acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and occupy the center halves. Baturina and Kühn operate as wide wingers, looking to cut inside or cross from the flanks to create chances. These attackers press high, forcing the opponent to play long balls which the central defenders can then collect.

This formation provides significant tactical advantages by creating numerical superiority in the middle of the field. The heavy concentration of players around Paz allows the team to dominate possession and switch play rapidly. Additionally, the movement of Baturina and Kühn can isolate wide defenders in one on one situations. By crowding the central areas, Como can force turnovers and launch immediate transitions.
