Belgrano Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Olave · Turus · Lollo · Chiqui Pérez · Tavio · Mansanelli · Ribair Rodríguez · Farre · Maldonado · F. Vázquez · PereyraBelgrano looks to play a direct and compact game using a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to defend in a low block and strike quickly when they win the ball back. The goal is to stay hard to beat and use the width of the pitch to stretch opponents while keeping the defensive unit close together.
Olave guards the goal and organizes the back line when the team sits deep. A flat back four consists of Turus and Lollo on the right side, with Chiqui Pérez and Tavio on the left. Turus and Tavio provide width and must track back to cover the flanks, while Lollo and Chiqui Pérez stay central to win headers and intercept passes. This defensive unit works to stay narrow and force the opposition into wide areas.
The midfield features a single pivot and a crowded central zone to control the middle of the pitch. Farre and Ribair Rodríguez sit in front of the defenders to shield the back four and intercept play. Moving higher, Mansanelli, Maldonado, and F. Vázquez occupy the central and wide areas to connect the defense with the attack. These players must press hard to prevent the opposition from playing through the middle and use quick passes to break the line.
Up front, Pereyra acts as a lone striker to lead the line. He must hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to push forward and join the attack. The attack relies on the wingers and central midfielders making runs into the box to support him. When the team loses possession, Pereyra is the first line of defense to press the opposing center backs and force a mistake.
Belgrano gains a significant advantage through their numerical superiority in the central midfield zone. This setup makes it very difficult for opponents to find space between the lines or play through the center. Another strength is the ability to shift quickly from a defensive block to a vertical attack, using the speed of the midfielders to support Pereyra in transition.
This formation relies on defensive discipline and hard work in the middle of the park. It is best suited for games against teams that dominate possession where Belgrano can sit deep and counter.
