Como Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Da Cunha · Valle · Douvikas · Posch · D. Carlos · Paz · Baturina · Perrone · Caqueret · Kühn · CavlinaFocusing on heavy verticality and controlling the middle of the pitch, Como utilizes a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup aims to dominate the center of the field through a congested midfield zone, allowing the team to win the ball back quickly and push forward. The formation is built to play with high intensity, using a crowded central area to dictate the tempo of the game.
Cavlina acts as the last line of defense, standing behind a very narrow back two. Posch and D. Carlos form the central defensive pair, where they must stay compact and cover large amounts of space behind the midfield. Because there are no traditional full backs, these two central defenders must be ready to step up or drop back quickly to handle long balls or runners in wide areas. The defensive unit relies on the five midfielders to block passing lanes before opponents can reach the penalty area.
The midfield is the engine of the Como lineup, working in a crowded five man block. Caqueret and Valle act as a double pivot to shield the defense and intercept passes. Da Cunha and Perrone operate in the half spaces to drive the ball forward and connect the back line to the attack. Paz plays as the attacking ten, sitting in the pocket between the opposition midfield and defense to create chances. This cluster of players makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle.
The attack relies on three forwards to stretch the opposition and pin the defense back. Douvikas leads the line as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and make runs into the channels. Baturina operates on the left wing, looking to cut inside and create threats, while Kühn occupies the right flank to provide width and deliver crosses. These three forwards press the opposition back line immediately upon losing possession to prevent quick transitions.
One major tactical advantage is the numerical superiority in the center of the pitch, which allows Como to control possession and intercept play. The presence of Paz behind the front three creates a constant threat to break the lines with vertical passes. Additionally, the compact midfield block makes it difficult for opponents to find space between the lines, forcing them to play wide where they are less dangerous.
This high intensity formation is ideal for dominating games through central control and quick vertical transitions. It is best suited for matches where the team wants to overwhelm the opponent in the middle third and force them into errors.
