Focusing on a heavy high press and rapid transitions, this team operates in a 5-2-3 formation. The lineup is built to win it back high up the pitch and use the width of the field to stretch the opposition. By using a combination of wing backs and three attackers, the team aims to overwhelm the opponent in the final third while remaining compact when defending.

GK guards the goal within a five man defensive unit. The back line functions as a back three with a DMF acting as a deep centre back to sit in front of the line. CB and CB act as the primary central defenders, focusing on holding the line and winning headers. To provide width, RWB and LWB act as attacking wing backs who push high to support the attack. This defensive unit can drop into a low block or step up to set the offside trap, working together to squeeze the space and deny the turn to any oncoming attackers.

The midfield relies on a two man central pairing to bridge the gap between the defence and the front line. CMF and AMF operate as the engine room, where CMF provides more stability to shield the defence while AMF looks to drive forward with the ball. These two players must work to press in a mid-block and pick up runners coming from deep. They are responsible for recycling possession and finding the feet of the striker to keep the attack moving through the thirds.

Up front, the team employs three attackers to create constant pressure. CF, CF, and SS act as a front three where SS plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and create chances. The two CF players occupy the central and right channels, often looking to run in behind or hold up the ball to allow the wing backs to overlap. This front line is designed to press from the front, forcing a long ball from the opposition and allowing the team to win the second ball in advanced areas.

One major advantage is the ability to create wide overloads through the movement of RWB and LWB. When the wing backs push forward, they create two on one situations against the opposition full backs. Another strength is the compactness when defending, as the DMF, CB, and CB form a very narrow block that is hard to break through centrally. The team can also switch play quickly to isolate the CF or SS in one on one situations on the flanks.

This 5-2-3 formation relies on intense pressing and quick vertical movement to break down opponents. It is best suited for games against teams that play with a high line or struggle to deal with constant pressure in the wide areas.
