Custom Team Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Kevin · Kerwin · Manuel · Jorge · Hond · Roald · Dennis · Paco · Harry · Jorris · IvoA heavy emphasis on verticality and directness defines this lineup, operating within a 4-4-2 formation. This side seeks to win the ball and hit in behind on the transition as quickly as possible. The team relies on a balanced system that can shift between a mid-block and a high press depending on where they win the ball.
Ivo sits between the posts to manage the defensive line. The back four functions as a flat back four, with Dennis acting as a defensive wing back on the right side to hold his position. Manuel provides width on the left, while Kerwin and Kevin work as the central defensive pairing. Kevin acts as a ball playing defender to help play out from the back, while Kerwin is there to dominate in the air and clear the lines when under pressure.
The midfield operates in two banks of four to keep the team compact. Roald and Hond form a central pairing where Hond drives forward with the ball to carry it through the middle. Roald plays a more holding role to shield the defence and recycle possession. On the flanks, Paco and Jorge provide the wide width, with Paco looking to cut inside to create space for the full backs. This unit connects the defensive line to the two strikers by playing through the lines.
Up front, the team utilizes two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defence. Harry acts as the lone striker who stays high to pin the last defender, while Jorris plays as a second striker in the hole. Jorris likes to drop into the space between the lines to link up play. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition, allowing the team to win the second ball. This combination of players is designed to create runs in behind and allow for quick combinations in the final third.
One major advantage is the ability to compress the midfield when defending in a mid-block, making it very hard for opponents to find space between the lines. Another strength is the speed of transition, as the wide players Paco and Jorge can quickly switch play to the opposite flank. The team also benefits from the dual threat of Harry and Jorris, which forces the opposition center backs to stay narrow.
This 4-4-2 formation is built to exploit teams that leave large gaps behind their defensive line. It is best suited for matches where the side can sit deep and counter at pace.
