Motor Football Formation
Starting Lineup
MICHALAK (84) · MEYER (67) · GRABOWSKI (72) · MAZUR (70) · DABROWSKI (79) · NOWICKI (87) · DUDEK (75) · DZIEGIELEWSKI (69) · KUJALOWICZ (85) · HACINI (76) · KOZIOL (84)Aiming for a high press and rapid transitions, Motor utilizes a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm the opposition in the final third and force turnovers high up the pitch. By pushing many players forward, Motor intends to play a very vertical game that prioritizes directness over patient buildup.
Michalak sits between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line operates as a flat back four with Grabowski and Mazur acting as the central defenders. Grabowski and Mazur must focus on holding their position and covering the space behind the full backs if they push high. On the flanks, Meyer and Dabrowski act as wide defenders who need to track back quickly to defend against counter attacks. The whole unit must stay compact to prevent the opposition from playing through the middle.
The midfield relies on a double pivot to provide stability and connect the defense to the attack. Dudek and Nowicki work in the center to shield the back four and intercept passes. They are tasked with breaking the lines through vertical passing and winning the ball back immediately after a loss. These two players must cover a lot of ground to ensure the gap between the defensive line and the four attackers does not become too large.
The attacking front line is composed of four players designed to pin the opponent's defense back. Kujalowicz operates as a wide winger on the left while Hacini stays wide on the right to stretch the opposition. Dziegielewski and Koziol lead the line as two central forwards, constantly making runs to break the defensive line. This front four applies intense pressure on the opponent's backline to prevent them from building play from the back.
This formation offers the advantage of numerical superiority in the attacking third, often creating situations where the opposition defenders are outnumbered. Motor can also isolate wide players like Kujalowicz and Hacini in one on one situations once they receive the ball in advanced areas. The coordinated press from the four forwards allows the team to win the ball in dangerous positions to launch immediate attacks.
This 4-2-4 formation is built for aggressive, high tempo football that seeks to dominate through numbers in the box. It is best suited for matches where Motor needs to chase a result against a team that sits deep in a low block.
