Kerkez and Frimpong act as the two holding midfielders to shield the defense, while Gravenberch and Mac Allister operate in the central spaces to drive forward and connect the lines. Van Dijk acts as the attacking ten, pushing high into the final third to create passing lanes. This density in the middle ensures that the team can pass through blocks and keep the ball in tight spaces.

In the final third, the team uses three attackers to stretch the opposition. Konate plays on the left wing and Robertson operates on the right wing, providing width and the ability to cut inside or deliver crosses. Mamadarshvili leads the line as a lone striker to hold up the ball and finish chances. The forwards press in coordinated waves to ensure the opposition cannot build play from the back.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. The heavy presence of five midfielders creates a massive numerical superiority in the center, making it very hard for opponents to play through. Additionally, having Van Dijk push into the attacking midfield role allows the team to isolate wide players like Konate and Robertson in one on one situations.
