Sommer sits between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line consists of a flat four where Akanji and De Vrij act as central defenders. Akanji uses his strength and ability to cover space, while De Vrij focuses on reading the game and intercepting passes. On the flanks, Dumfries pushes high to provide width as an overlapping full back, whereas Dimarco cuts inside to create more central presence. This back four must stay compact to prevent through balls.

The midfield relies on a central pivot system to control the game. Calhanoglu sits in the deepest role to shield the defense and break the lines with his passing range. Barella works tirelessly to drive forward and link the play, using his high energy to cover ground. Frattesi provides support in the left central role, while Zielinski operates as an attacking ten behind the strikers. This midfield arrangement allows Calhanoglu to dictate the tempo while the others press and push into advanced spaces.

Inter employs two forwards to stretch the opposition defense. Martinez acts as a focal point, holding up the ball and making runs into the channels. Thuram plays alongside him as a second striker, using his pace to exploit gaps in the defensive line. These two attackers press the opponent's defenders constantly to force long balls. One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create numerical superiority in the central areas during the attacking phase. Another strength is the wide overload provided by Dumfries and Dimarco, which allows the team to switch play and cross frequently. The compactness of the unit when defending deep makes it very hard for opponents to find passing lanes through the middle.
