Audero guards the goal and organizes the back line from deep. A flat back four consists of Terracciano on the right and Pezzella on the left, while Baschirotto and Fayé occupy the central defensive slots. Baschirotto provides aerial strength and physicality in the air, while Fayé focuses on covering the space behind the full backs. Terracciano and Pezzella are tasked with staying narrow to support the center backs, only pushing up to overlap when the midfield provides enough cover.

The midfield operates in a way that provides heavy central coverage using a double pivot of Payero and Bondo. These two players sit in front of the defense to intercept passes and shield the back four. Ahead of them, Zerbin and Sarmiento work as central midfielders who connect the defensive unit to the attack. Vazquez plays as an attacking ten, roaming in the pockets of space to find passing lanes. This midfield bank of five makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle of the pitch.

In the attacking phase, Vardy acts as a lone striker to lead the line. He uses his movement to hold up the ball and wait for support from the advancing midfielders. The attacking build up relies on the wide areas or quick vertical passes through Vazquez to find Vardy in behind the defense. The forwards and midfielders work together to press when the ball is lost, attempting to win it back high up the pitch immediately.
