On the flanks, Guilbert and Ndaba are tasked with tracking back to protect the width and overlapping to support the midfield. The whole defensive unit works together to maintain a high line when the team pushes forward.

A single pivot system governs the midfield control for Lecce. Ramadani sits in front of the defense to shield the back line and intercept play. Beside him, Rafia and Coulibaly work to connect the defensive unit with the front three. Rafia looks to drive forward and break the line with vertical passes, while Coulibaly helps to press and win the ball back in the middle third. This midfield trio must stay compact to prevent play from moving through the center.

The attacking unit uses three attackers to stretch the opposition defense. Stulic leads the line as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and bring others into play. One main advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads through the combination of the wingers and overlapping full backs. The team also benefits from the speed of transition once Ramadani or the central defenders win possession. By using the width provided by Guilbert and Ndaba, Lecce can switch play quickly to isolate Banda or Sottil in one on one situations against the opposing full backs.
