SK Sturm Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Schicklgruber · Feldhofer · Neukirchner · Prilasnig · Schopp · Schupp · Mählich · Martens · Minavand · Vastić © · KocijanSK Sturm looks to control the game through a high press and quick transitions using a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup focuses on winning the ball back high up the pitch to catch opponents out of position. By using a heavy midfield presence, the team aims to dominate the center of the park and drive the ball forward through central passing lanes.
In the defensive unit, Schicklgruber acts as the last line of defense. The back three consists of Neukirchner, Feldhofer, and Prilasnig. Neukirchner and Prilasnig cover the wide areas of the defensive line, while Feldhofer occupies the central role to block shots and win aerial duels. This trio works to stay compact, stepping up to catch attackers offside or dropping deep to cover long balls behind the line.
The midfield works in a complex way to connect the defense to the attack. Martens and Schupp occupy the central areas to control the tempo and break the line with forward passes. Mählich provides support on the left side to help link play, while Minavand and Schopp act as wide midfielders to provide width. Minavand and Schopp must track back to help the defenders when the team loses the ball, ensuring the wide areas remain protected against opposition wingers.
The attack relies on two forwards to lead the press and create chances. Kocijan and Vastić © lead the line, with the captain Vastić © using his experience to hold up the ball and bring others into play. The two forwards push high to press the opposition defenders, forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. This two-man front line creates movement that pulls central defenders out of position, opening space for the midfielders to run into.
This formation provides several tactical advantages for SK Sturm. The presence of five midfielders allows the team to create numerical superiority in the center, making it difficult for opponents to pass through. The wide runners, Minavand and Schopp, can overlap or cut inside to create overloads. Additionally, the compactness of the three central defenders and the three central midfielders makes the team very hard to break down when they sit deep.
SK Sturm uses this 3-5-2 formation to dominate the middle of the pitch through high intensity pressing. This lineup is best suited for games where the team needs to overwhelm a single pivot or counter hard against a team that plays with a back four.
