Starting Lineup

Raux Yao · Cvetkovic · Bolla · J. Auer · Amane · Antiste · Tilio · Wurmbrand · Gulliksen · Seidl · Gartler

A high pressing and vertical style of play defines this SK Rapid lineup in a 2-5-3 formation. The team looks to win the ball back quickly in the final third and move the ball toward the goal with directness. This formation allows the squad to control the central areas and crowd the opposition when they try to build from the back.

Gartler operates between the posts to organize the defensive unit. In front of him, Raux Yao and Cvetkovic form a narrow two man central defense. They must stay compact and track runs behind them because there is little cover from the wide areas. The two central defenders need to be strong in the air and quick to step up to intercept long balls.

The midfield is the engine room for SK Rapid, utilizing a complex five man layer. Bolla sits in a single pivot role to shield the back line and break up play. To his left, J. Auer works to protect the space and provide stability. Seidl and Amane occupy the central areas to drive forward and link the defense to the attack. Gulliksen plays as the attacking midfielder to operate between the lines and create chances.

The attack relies on three players to stretch the opposition. Antiste leads the line as a lone striker to hold up the ball and run the channels. Wurmbrand plays on the left wing to cut inside and create goal threats, while Tilio provides width on the right. These attackers must press hard to prevent the opposition from playing out from the back.

One major advantage of this lineup is the ability to create numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch. By crowding the center with five players, the team can dominate possession and win second balls. The formation also allows for quick transitions where the wide players can immediately push up to support the striker.

This 2-5-3 formation creates a heavy central presence that is hard to bypass. It is a lineup best suited for games where the team wants to dominate the ball and press high against a side that struggles with intensity.
