Starting Lineup

kason · dom · dylan · clint · cj · aaron · oishin · martin · ksawery · cian · gustas

Barrow looks to play a direct and vertical game that relies on quick transitions and defensive solidity using a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to absorb pressure and launch immediate attacks through the wide areas. By sitting deep, the team forces opponents into wide zones where they can be trapped.

The defensive unit starts with ksawery in goal to organize the back line. A central trio consisting of martin, cj, and cian provides a wall of protection in the middle of the box. Martin acts as the anchor while cj and cian cover the channels. On the flanks, gustas and aaron operate as wing backs who must track back to help the center backs when defending low. This five man block makes it very difficult for teams to find space between the lines.

In the middle of the pitch, Barrow uses a double pivot to control the tempo. oishin and dylan occupy the central roles to shield the defense and connect the back line to the front three. These two must work hard to intercept passes and push up to support the attack. When the team loses the ball, oishin and dylan drop into the gaps to ensure the midfield does not get overrun.

The attacking line relies on three players to stretch the opposition. kason leads the line as a lone striker to hold up the ball and bring others into play. On the wings, dom and clint act as wide attackers who look to cut inside or cross the ball into the box. The movement of dom and clint creates space for kason to run into, while the wing backs gustas and aaron push high to provide width.

One major strength of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads. When gustas and aaron step up, they join clint and dom to overwhelm the opposing full backs. Another advantage is the compactness when defending. The close proximity of the five defenders and the two midfielders makes it hard for opponents to break the line with through balls.

This formation provides a sturdy platform for a team that wants to defend deep and strike on the break. It is best suited for games against possession heavy opponents where Barrow can exploit the space left behind their high line.
