Starting Lineup

Se · Arthur · Jack · Caden · Conor · Harry · Jack McC · Ben · Fionn · JD · Ethan

A heavy high press and rapid transitions define this lineup in a 3-4-3. This formation is built to win it back high up the pitch and use the width of the field to stretch the defence. The team seeks to squeeze the space in the final third to force a long ball from the opposition.

Ethan sits between the posts to organize the back three. Se acts as the central defender to sweep behind a high line and intercept passes. Jack and Arthur form the side of the back three, where Jack operates as the left centre back and Arthur as the right centre back. They must stay compact and hold the line to ensure they do not get caught when the team pushes forward. The defenders work together to defend zonally and ensure they do not leave gaps between the lines.

The midfield works as a four man block to control the center and the flanks. Conor and Caden occupy the central roles, where they work to pick up runners and shield the defence. Conor acts as a carrier to drive forward with the ball while Caden helps to recycle possession. On the flanks, Ben and Fionn act as wide midfielders to provide the necessary width. Ben works to overlap the winger on the right, while Fionn seeks to get to the byline on the left to whip it in.

In the attacking third, the team uses three attackers to pin the last defender. JD acts as a lone striker to find the feet of the striker and hold up the ball for those arriving late into the box. Harry and Jack McC operate as wide wingers who cut inside to create central presence. Harry pushes from the front to trigger a press, while Jack McC looks to isolate a one on one wide to cross on the run. This trio combines in tight spaces to break the line of the opposition defence.

The team gains a major advantage through the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using the front three and the wide midfielders, they can squeeze the space and force mistakes. Another strength is the wide overloads created when Ben and Jack McC combine to overwhelm the opposition full back. This makes the team very difficult to play through the thirds.

This 3-4-3 lineup relies on high intensity to win the ball back quickly. It is best suited for matches against teams that try to build short from the back.
