Instituto Football Formation
Starting Lineup
ROFFO · ALARCON · ZALAZAR · BELTRAN · PEREYRA · MOREYRA · LODICO · ACEVEDO · CORDOBA · LUNA · LAZAROFocusing on a solid defensive base and rapid transitions, Instituto utilizes a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep when out of possession and strike quickly on the break. The team looks to congest the central areas to force opponents wide before launching long balls or quick passes to the front line.
Roffo acts as the last line of defense behind a back five. The central trio of Moreyra, Alarcon, and Zalazar provides a compact block that is strong in the air. Moreyra anchors the middle while Alarcon and Zalazar cover the channels. On the flanks, Pereyra and Beltran act as wing backs to provide width, pushing up to support the attack or tracking back to form a five man defensive line when the team sits deep.
The midfield functions as a central block designed to shield the defense and connect the lines. Acevedo and Lodico occupy the central roles to break up play and win second balls. Acevedo provides a physical presence to intercept passes, while Lodico helps move the ball forward. Luna operates as an attacking midfielder, sitting just behind the strikers to find pockets of space and drive the ball into the final third.
Instituto employs two strikers to lead the line. Cordoba and Lazaro work together to hold up the ball and pull defenders out of position. The two forwards are expected to press the opposition back line to prevent easy buildup play. While Cordoba stays central to occupy the center backs, Lazaro can drift slightly wider to create movement and exploit spaces created by the wing backs.
A major advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in the defensive third, which makes the team very hard to break down. The use of Pereyra and Beltran allows for wide overloads when they overlap the midfielders. Additionally, the presence of Luna behind the two forwards creates a quick transition point to break the lines of the opposition midfield.
This 5-3-2 formation relies on a compact defensive unit and high speed during transitions. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession where Instituto can exploit the space left behind the opposition defense.
