Starting Lineup

Ajax focuses on aggressive attacking through a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup aims to dominate the middle and push players forward to pin the opponent in their own half. The team wants to control the ball in the final third and use high pressure to win it back immediately after losing it.

Jaros acts as the last line of defense behind a back two. Itakura and Sutalo play as the central defenders in a high line, requiring them to step up and intercept long balls while covering the space behind. This pairing must be quick to track runners because the formation leaves large amounts of grass behind the defenders. The defensive unit relies on high intensity to keep the play in the opponent territory.

The midfield creates a dense wall to control the center of the pitch. Gaaei and Wijndal occupy the defensive midfield roles to shield the two central defenders and stop counter attacks. Klaassen and Taylor operate in the central midfield to drive forward and break the lines with passes. Gloukh plays as the attacking midfielder to connect the midfield block to the front three. This five man unit allows Ajax to keep possession and shift play between the wings and the center.

The attack utilizes a front three to stretch the opposition defense. Dolberg plays as the lone striker to hold up the ball and provide a central target for crosses. Godts and Edvardsen act as wide attackers, with Godts cutting inside from the left and Edvardsen finding space on the right. This front line is designed to press high and force mistakes from the opposition back line.
