Starting Lineup
PIPO (Boca) · Martin (River) · Hakimi (PSG) · Nico (Como) · Mora (Tijuana) · Di Maria (Rosario Central) · Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad) · Merino (Arsenal) · Ziyech (Wydad Casablanca) · Zabiri (Famalicão) · En Nseyri (Fenerbahçe)Focusing on a relentless high press and rapid verticality, this team operates within a 2-4-4 formation. The lineup is built to overwhelm opponents in the final third and win the ball back high up the pitch. By sacrificing defensive numbers for attacking density, the team aims to force turnovers and strike quickly before the opposition can organize.
PIPO sits between the two central defenders to act as a sweeper behind the high line. Mora and Hakimi form a narrow defensive duo that must be prepared to cover vast amounts of space. These two central defenders must be able to defend man-to-man and step up to squeeze the space when the ball is on the opposite side. Because there are no full backs, Mora and Hakimi must be extremely fast to track back and cover the channels when the team loses possession.
The midfield functions as a four man block designed to control the center and dominate the half spaces. Zabiri acts as the primary anchor to shield the defense, while Nico and Ziyech operate as wide central midfielders who provide balance. Ziyech uses his signature passing range to switch play, while Nico works to press in a mid-block to disrupt the opponent. Merino plays as an advanced ten in the pocket, looking to arrive late into the box and connect the midfield to the front four.
The attacking unit uses four forwards to pin the last defender and stretch the defence. Di Maria and Oyarzabal occupy the wide areas as wingers who look to cut inside and create chances. En Nseyri and Martin operate as a two man partnership in the center. En Nseyri uses his aerial strength to attack the far post, while Martin looks to link up play between the lines and find the feet of the striker. This front line is designed to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.
This lineup offers immense numerical superiority in the attacking third and creates constant chaos for the opposition back line. The team can isolate wide players in one on one situations very effectively through the movements of Di Maria and Oyarzabal. By playing with such a high line and heavy front presence, they can transition from defense to attack with incredible speed.
This 2-4-4 formation is a high risk high reward system built for total dominance in the offensive third. It is best suited for matches where the team needs to break down a low block or overwhelm an opponent through sheer volume of players in the box.
