Starting Lineup

Finn Geragusyan · Eduard Spertsyan · Alejandro Ararat · Iwu · Erik Piloyan · Avagyan · Nair Tiknizyan · Sergey Muradyan · Styopa Mkrtchyan · Artem Bandikyan · Hrant Ranos

Armenia aims to control the central areas through a high press and quick transitions in a 3-5-2. This lineup relies on a strong presence in the middle of the pitch to win the ball back and push the opponents toward their own goal. The team looks to play a vertical game where the ball moves quickly from the defensive unit to the front two.

Avagyan stays between the posts to organize the back three. Styopa Mkrtchyan sits in the center to hold the line and cover the space behind his teammates. On either side, Erik Piloyan acts as the right center back while Sergey Muradyan takes the left center back role. These three defenders must stay compact to prevent through balls and manage the space when the team sits deep.

The midfield functions as a central engine with a heavy concentration of players. Artem Bandikyan and Nair Tiknizyan act as a double pivot to shield the defense and break up play. They sit in front of the back three to intercept passes and win second balls. Alejandro Ararat and Iwu push further up to connect the defense with the attack, while Eduard Spertsyan operates in the attacking ten role to create chances. Spertsyan uses his passing range and ball control to find gaps in the opposition lines.

The attacking unit utilizes two forwards to stretch the opposition. Hrant Ranos and Finn Geragusyan work together to pressure the defenders and hold up the ball. They often play as a pair to pin the opposing center backs, creating space for the midfielders to run into. When the team moves forward, these two press the back line to force mistakes and win possession in high areas.

Armenia offers significant strength through numerical superiority in the center of the pitch. Having five players in the middle allows the team to overwhelm opponents who try to play through the center. The combination of a double pivot and an attacking ten means the team can control the tempo and switch play quickly. This formation also provides a strong defensive block that is hard to break down once the midfielders drop back to support the defenders.

This 3-5-2 formation prioritizes central dominance and aggressive pressing to disrupt the opponent. It is best suited for games where the team needs to control the ball and exploit spaces between the lines of a central midfield.
