Hajduk focuses on a heavy high press and rapid transitions using a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup relies on winning the ball high up the pitch to catch opponents out of position. The team looks to control the game through aggressive verticality and quick movement between the lines.

MEŠKOVIĆ-KATALINIĆ stands between the posts to command the area. The defensive unit consists of a back three with LUKETIN acting as the central man to sweep up long balls. PRIMORAC and VULIĆ sit on either side of him to provide cover and intercept through balls. The wide defenders, ZO.VUJOVIĆ and BOLJAT, act as wing backs who push high up the pitch to provide width. They must track back quickly to form a five man line when Hajduk loses possession.

The midfield operates as a double pivot to control the center of the park. SLIŠKOVIĆ and GRAČAN work together to shield the back three and break up opposition play. One midfielder often steps up to press while the other holds his position to protect against counter attacks. They act as the bridge, receiving passes from the defenders and looking to find the attackers with quick vertical passes.

In the final third, the team employs three attackers to stretch the opposition. FRANE MATOŠIĆ leads the line as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and bring others into play. PEŠIĆ and DEVERIĆ operate as wide attackers, cutting inside to create goal scoring chances or staying wide to cross. They press the opposition full backs heavily to force mistakes in the defensive third.

This formation offers significant strength in wide overloads when ZO.VUJOVIĆ and BOLJAT overlap the attackers. The team can also create numerical superiority in the attacking phase by shifting players into the half spaces. The compact nature of the back five makes it hard for opponents to find space between the lines when the team sits deep.
