Seattle Soccer Formation
Starting Lineup
Goalie (SJ) · Sweeper (Devam) · Left Back (Aarnav) · Center Back (Reyansh) · Right Back (Sarp) · CDM (Ridaan) · Left Wing (Jashith) · Right Wing (Lucas) · CAM (Aarya) · Left Forward (Madhav) · Right Forward (Sahaat)Focusing on quick transitions and direct play, Seattle operates within a 4-4-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and then strike quickly when the opposition loses possession. The team relies on compact lines to close down space, making it hard for opponents to play through the middle.
Goalie stays between the posts to organize the back four. Sweeper and Center Back act as the central pairing, with Sweeper providing coverage while Center Back holds the line. RB and LB provide width in the defensive unit, ready to overlap when the ball moves forward. This back four must step up together to catch attackers offside or drop deep to protect the space behind.
The midfield works in a way that connects the defense to the attack through a central engine. CDM sits in front of the back four to shield the defense and intercept passes. RCM and LCM occupy the central spaces to drive the ball forward or track back to help the full backs. CAM operates in the pocket behind the strikers to create chances and break the line with key passes.
Seattle uses two forwards to lead the line, with LS and RS working in tandem. These two attackers often press high to force mistakes from the opposition defense. LS and RS can either run into channels to stretch the play or hold up the ball to allow the midfield to join the attack. The width comes from the wide midfielders pushing up to cross the ball into the box.
A major strength of this Seattle lineup is the ability to create numerical superiority in the middle when the CAM pushes higher. The team can also use the speed of transition to catch opponents out of position after an interception. By keeping the lines close together, they remain very difficult to break down when they sit deep in a low block.
This 4-4-2 formation prioritizes defensive solidity and rapid counter attacks. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their high defensive line.
