PUDAR SIMOVIĆ · CUKROV (JELIKIĆ) · MILJUŠ (DRAŽIĆ) · PRIMORAC (J.ČOP) · JEROLIMOV (TIPURIĆ) · ĆELIĆ (MIŠE) · ZO.VUJOVIĆ (DEVERIĆ) · VULIĆ (BURSAČ) · SLIŠKOVIĆ (KARAČIĆ) · GRAČAN (PREKAZI) · PEŠIĆ (BOGDANOVIĆ)Hajduk aims to play a vertical and direct style of football using a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup relies on quick transitions and using the width of the pitch to stretch opposing defensive lines. The team looks to win the ball in high areas and push the forwards forward immediately to catch the opponent out of position.
Pudar Simović stands between the posts to organize the defensive unit. A back five provides a dense block where Ćelić acts as the central anchor to hold the line and cover space. Primorac and Jerolimov operate as the two wide center backs, providing aerial strength and supporting the build up. On the flanks, Cukrov and Miljuš act as wing backs who are expected to push high up the pitch to provide width. This defensive group works to stay compact and shift together to block passing lanes.
The midfield operates with a double pivot consisting of Gračan and Šlišković. Both players must work hard to cover the ground between the defense and the attack. Gračan and Šlišković act as the engine, where one may drop deeper to shield the back five while the other tries to break the line with forward runs. They connect the defensive unit to the front three by recycling possession or playing direct passes to the wingers.
In the attacking phase, Hajduk uses three attackers to create constant pressure. Vulić operates as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and fight against center backs. Pešić and Zo.Vujović play as wide attackers, often looking to cut inside or stretch the play to the touchline. These three players press the opponent's back line aggressively to force mistakes and win the ball back high up the pitch.
This formation offers Hajduk significant tactical advantages through wide overloads. When Cukrov and Miljuš overlap, they create two on one situations against opposing full backs. The team also benefits from a high press in coordinated waves, with Vulić and the wingers forcing the opposition to play long. This allows the defensive trio of Ćelić, Primorac, and Jerolimov to intercept play and start quick counter attacks.
The 5-2-3 formation provides Hajduk with defensive solidity and heavy width during transitions. It is best suited for matches against teams that play with a high defensive line or those that struggle to manage wide players.
