Seattle focuses on a direct and high pressing style of play through a 4-4-2 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and move forward quickly to catch the opposition off guard. By utilizing two banks of four and a dual striker system, Seattle can dominate the central areas and force turnovers in dangerous zones.

Goalie acts as the last line of defense behind a flat back four. Sweeper plays as the right-sided central defender and works to cover space when the defensive line steps up. Center Back holds the left side of the central pairing to provide stability. RB and LB provide width in the defensive line, ready to overlap or drop back to form a compact block when the team sits deep to defend.

The midfield works in a diamond style within the 4-4-2 to control the center of the pitch. CDM sits in front of the back four to shield the defense and intercept passes. CAM operates in the hole between the midfield and the attack to create chances and break the line with through balls. LCM and RCM occupy the wider areas of the central midfield to connect the defense to the attack and drive the ball forward during transitions.

Seattle utilizes two forwards to pressure the opposition defenders. LS and RS work together to press the back line and force hurried clearances. The strikers can either play as a partnership to hold up the ball or split wide to pull defenders out of position. This attacking movement creates space for the CAM and the oncoming midfielders to run into the box.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves using the two strikers and the midfield four. Seattle can also create numerical superiority in the center of the pitch when the CAM pushes forward to support the attack. The setup allows for quick transitions where the ball can be switched play rapidly to the wide areas to exploit space.

This 4-4-2 formation provides Seattle with a balance of defensive solidity and vertical attacking intent. It is best suited for games against teams that play with a high defensive line or struggle to play out from the back.
