The lineup is built to pin the opposition back and force mistakes high up the pitch through heavy pressure. This formation aims to dominate the middle of the park and create immediate chances through rapid transitions.
Kiddi stays between the posts to act as a sweeper behind a high line. The defensive unit relies on a two man back line consisting of Óskar and Geiri. Both defenders must be ready to step up to catch opponents offside or cover large spaces when the team wins the ball back high up the pitch. They function as a mobile pair that must hold the line while the rest of the team pushes forward.
In the middle of the pitch, a five man midfield provides massive presence. Flóki and Karel operate as the central engine, with Flóki acting as a carrier to drive forward and Karel helping to recycle possession. Atli sits in the hole as an attacking ten behind the striker to find pockets of space. The wide players Kiddo and YUSIF occupy the flanks to provide width, with Kiddo pushing up the left and YUSIF tracking back to help the defense. This midfield group works to squeeze the space and ensure the opposition cannot play through the lines.
The attacking trio of Robbi, Árni, and Balli creates constant movement in the final third. Robbi and Árni act as wide wingers who stretch the defence by staying high, while Balli works as a lone striker to hold up the ball and find the feet of incoming runners. The goal is to use Robbi and Árni to isolate wide players in one on one situations or deliver crosses into the box. The forwards press the opposition back line from the front to trigger a press that forces a long ball.
One major advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in the midfield which allows the team to dominate the ball and control the tempo. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves to win the ball back near the opponent goal. The setup also allows for rapid attacks where the wingers can quickly arrive late into the box to support Balli.
This lineup is built for high intensity football that seeks to overwhelm opponents through sheer volume of players in the attacking zones. It is best suited for games where the team can exploit a slow retreating defense or a side that struggles to play out from the back.
