Thibaut Courtois stands between the posts to command the area and act as the first point of distribution. The defensive unit operates with a back three consisting of SANTAMARIA, EDWARDS, and BOSZIK. These central defenders must stay compact and cover the spaces behind the wing backs. NILTON SANTOS plays as the left wing back to provide width and overlap on the flank, while THURAM occupies the right wing back position to push high. This defensive unit functions by sitting deep when necessary but stepping up to squeeze the space when the ball is played wide.

The midfield is organized as a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. PUSKÁS and EUSEBIO work together to connect the defense to the forward line. PUSKÁS uses his legendary passing range to break the line with long balls, while EUSEBIO drives forward to link the play. These two players must cover large amounts of ground to shield the back three and ensure the team does not get overrun in the middle.

DJAJIC often looks to cut inside to find shooting lanes, while JULINHO pushes high to exploit the space left by retreating defenders.
