Prioritizing defensive solidity and quick transitions, River employs a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup focuses on controlling the central areas while using wing backs to provide width during attacks. The team looks to sit deep and then use rapid vertical movements to catch opponents out of position.

Ledesma acts as the last line of defense in goal. The back line consists of three central defenders with Martínez Quarta and Rivero providing cover while a third center back sits in the middle to hold the line. Montiel operates as a right wing back, pushing high to provide crosses, while Acuña plays as the left wing back to overlap in the final third. This unit stays compact to block passing lanes and intercept any incoming service.

The midfield operates with a three man core that connects the defense to the front line. Galoppo and Lencina occupy the central spaces to shield the back three and track runners. Quintero plays as an attacking ten, looking to break the line with his passing range and creative movement. This group works to win the ball back quickly and move it toward the attackers as soon as possession is regained.

Two forwards lead the press from the front. Salas and Colidio operate as a strike duo, with one often dropping deeper to link play while the other makes runs behind the defense. The team uses these two to press the opposition back line and force errors. When the ball moves wide, the strikers shift to occupy the channels and prepare to receive crosses from the wing backs.

River gains a major advantage through the ability to create wide overloads when Montiel and Acuña push forward. The three central defenders and three midfielders create a compact block that is very difficult to break down through the middle. This formation also allows for quick transitions, as the team can move from a deep defensive state to a wide attacking state in seconds.

This 5-3-2 formation provides River with a reliable defensive base and lethal counter attacking potential. It is best suited for games against dominant sides where the team needs to sit deep and exploit space on the break.
