Starting Lineup

Falcone · Veiga · Gaspar · Gabriel · Gallo · Coulibaly · Ramadani · Berisha · Sottil · Morente · Stulic

Lecce aims to play a direct and vertical style of football through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to transition quickly from defense to attack, looking to catch opponents out of position. The goal is to maintain a compact unit that can press high or drop into a low block when necessary to protect the goal.

Falcone operates between the posts to organize the defensive unit. A flat back four provides the foundation, with Gabriel and Veiga acting as the central defenders. Gabriel and Veiga must hold the line and win aerial duels to stop long balls. On the flanks, Gallo and Gaspar act as full backs. Gallo and Gaspar can push up to overlap the wide players, while they must also track back to cover the spaces left behind during attacking phases.

The midfield operates as a three man unit to control the center of the pitch. Ramadani, Berisha, and Coulibaly work to maintain connections between the defense and the front line. Ramadani and Coulibaly occupy the central spaces to intercept passes and break the line with forward runs. Berisha helps to shield the defense and can drive forward to support the attack. This trio works together to ensure the team does not get overrun in the middle of the park.

Lecce uses three attackers to stretch the opposition defense. Morente plays as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and bring others into play. Sottil and Stulic occupy the wide positions as wingers. Sottil and Stulic often cut inside to create goal scoring chances or cross the ball into the box. The forwards are expected to press the opposition defenders immediately to force turnovers high up the pitch.

This formation offers several tactical advantages for Lecce. The wide players and full backs can create wide overloads to bypass the opponent's defensive line. The three midfielders provide a way to control the tempo and create numerical superiority in the center. Additionally, the high pressing from Sottil, Stulic, and Morente allows the team to win the ball back quickly in dangerous areas.

The 4-3-3 formation provides a balanced way to transition from a defensive stance to a rapid attack. It is best suited for matches against teams that leave space behind their defensive line.
