Starting Lineup

Τοχούρογλου · Μαλεζάς · P.Contreras · Sznaucner · Lino · Ζαγοράκης · P.Garcia · S.Conceicao · Κωνσταντέλιας · Vieirinha · Σαλπιγγίδης

PAOK focuses on direct attacking play and high intensity, utilizing a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm the opposition through heavy numbers in the final third. The team aims to press high and win the ball quickly to catch opponents out of position.

In goal, Τοχούρογλου acts as the last line of defense. The back line consists of a flat back four that must remain compact when the ball is on the opposite side. Lino operates as a left back who will push up to support the attack, while Sznaucner holds the right flank. Central defenders P.Contreras and Μαλεζάς must cover large spaces and win aerial duels to protect the area. This defensive unit must stay disciplined to prevent counter attacks when the full backs move forward.

The midfield operates with a double pivot to bridge the gap between defense and attack. Ζαγοράκης and P.Garcia work to shield the two central defenders and break up opposition play. They must provide a platform for the forwards by making short passes and recovering possession quickly. These two midfielders are responsible for tracking back when the team loses the ball and ensuring they do not get bypassed in the center of the pitch.

The attacking structure is very aggressive with four players positioned high up the pitch. Κωνσταντέλιας and Σαλπιγγίδης lead the line as two central forwards, often looking to break the line with runs behind the defense. On the wings, Vieirinha and S.Conceicao provide width and are expected to cut inside to create scoring chances. This front four can press the opposition defenders in waves to force turnovers near the goal.

One major advantage for PAOK is the ability to create wide overloads by involving the full backs in the attacking phases. Another strength is the ability to isolate wide players in one on one situations when S.Conceicao or Vieirinha receive the ball with space. The presence of multiple central threats allows the team to transition from defense to attack with great speed.

This 4-2-4 formation is a high risk, high reward system designed for dominant attacking displays. It is best suited for games where the team needs to break down a deep block or chase a result against aggressive opponents.
