Aston Villa plays with a high press and aggressive verticality in a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and quickly transition into attacking movements. The goal is to force errors in the opponent half and use rapid passing to break the lines before the defense can settle.

Leigh stays between the posts to organize the back line. A flat back four consists of Massey at right back and Anderson at left back. In the center, Konate and Haines act as the defensive duo. Konate provides aerial strength while Haines covers the space behind him. Massey and Anderson push high to offer width, which allows the central defenders to step up and squeeze the space between the lines.

The midfield operates with a central trio that connects the defense to the front line. Hanson and Iroegbunam occupy the central roles to control the tempo and shield the back four. Bowden plays as an attacking ten, sitting just ahead of the pivot to find pockets of space. Hanson looks to drive forward through the middle, while Iroegbunam focuses on intercepting passes and keeping the play moving. This midfield unit must work hard to track back when the team loses possession.

Attacking the final third relies on three players working in close proximity. Watkins leads the line as a lone striker, using his movement to hold up the ball and pull defenders out of position. On the flanks, Iling-Junior and Guessand act as wide attackers. Iling-Junior tends to cut inside to create goalscoring chances, while Guessand provides width and crosses from the right. Watkins stays central to finish the movements created by the wingers.

One major advantage for Aston Villa is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, forcing opponents into mistakes near their own goal. Another strength is the wide overloads provided when Massey and Anderson overlap with the wingers. This creates one on one situations for Iling-Junior and Guessand, making it very difficult for full backs to defend them.

This 4-3-3 formation creates a heavy attacking presence that can overwhelm weaker defensive units. It is best suited for games where the team can control the tempo through high pressure and quick transitions.
