Ternana looks to control games through a direct and pressing style of play within a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup focuses on winning the ball back quickly in the middle third to launch attacks before the opponent can organize. By using a central heavy midfield, the team seeks to dominate the center of the pitch and use their wide players to stretch the opposition.

Vitali stands between the posts to anchor the defensive unit. Ahead of him, Capuano acts as the central man in a back three, focusing on his aerial strength and positioning to block shots. Martella and Loiacono operate on either side of him as the left and right central defenders. They must step up to intercept passes and cover the space left behind when the wingers push forward. The defensive unit works as a compact block to deny space between the lines.

The midfield is built around a central trio of Proietti, Donati, and Ndrecka. Proietti acts as the main link, holding the ball and trying to break the line with vertical passes. Donati and Ndrecka provide the engine, working to tackle and shield the defenders while driving the ball forward into the half spaces. This central density allows the team to disrupt the opponent's rhythm and recycle possession through the middle.

Ternana uses two forwards to pin the opposition back. Dubickas plays as the left striker, looking to hold up the ball and create space for his partner. Ferrante operates as the right striker, moving into channels to find goal scoring opportunities. Supporting them are Vallocchia and Romeo, who operate in the attacking midfield pockets. These two wide attackers move inside to create overloads, allowing the team to flood the penalty area during the final phase of the attack.

This formation offers significant advantages through numerical superiority in the middle of the park. By having five players in the central zone, Ternana can easily outnumber opponents who play with a standard three man midfield. The presence of Vallocchia and Romeo allows the team to press high in coordinated waves, forcing mistakes near the opponent's goal. The ability to quickly switch play from the congested center to the wide players also makes the team difficult to mark.
