Custom Team Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Franz · Paddy · Flo · Jarema · Pulvis · Matze · Jimmy · Fränky the Cat · Daniel · Huis · CorneliusA heavy focus on a compact mid-block and winning the second ball defines this team, which operates in a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to stay hard to beat and hit the opposition on the transition. The team aims to squeeze the space between the lines, making it difficult for opponents to play through the thirds.
Fränky the Cat starts between the posts to command the area. The defensive unit uses a flat back four to maintain a narrow defensive block. Jimmy and Cornelius act as the central defenders, with Cornelius providing cover while Jimmy stays solid to defend zonally. Pulvis and Jarema play as full backs, tasked to hold the line when the team sits deep but also ready to push up to support the midfield. This back four works to keep the distances short and deny the turn to any oncoming attackers.
The midfield is a five man unit that relies on high energy to congest the center of the pitch. Paddy and Flo operate as a double pivot to shield the defence, with Paddy looking to intercept passes and Flo acting to win the second ball. In front of them, Franz and Daniel act as two inverted eights who connect the defensive and attacking lines. Matze plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, tasked to find pockets of space and receive on the half-turn to trigger an attack. This group works to press in a mid-block to force a long ball from the opposition.
Up front, the attack relies on a lone striker in Huis. Huis acts as a pressing centre-forward to harass the opposition back line and hold up the ball when the team breaks quickly. Because the midfield is so dense, Huis often has to work alone to pin the last defender until the runners from deep arrive. The team builds the attack by using Matze to link up play between the lines, looking to find Huis with direct passes or using the wide players to stretch the defence.
One major advantage is the numerical superiority in midfield which makes it very hard for opponents to find space in the center. The team can also shift quickly between a compact block and a counter attack at pace. This ability to stay compact when defending while having Matze ready to drive forward allows for quick transitions.
This 4-5-1 formation is built for a team that wants to control the tempo through defensive solidity. It is best suited for matches against technically superior opponents where sitting deep and hitting on the break is the priority.
