Kirkpatrick stays between the posts to command the penalty area. A back four forms the base of the defense, featuring Carmichael on the left and Gunnarsson on the right. In the middle, Kevin and Downes operate as a central pair to block crosses and win headers. Carmichael and Gunnarsson are tasked with tracking back to support the central defenders, while Kevin and Downes step up to intercept passes in front of the goalkeeper.

The midfield operates as a five man unit to clog the center of the pitch. A double pivot consisting of Dailly and Keel sits just in front of the defense to shield the back line and break up play. Ahead of them, Mochtary serves as the captain and acts as the central link, driving the team forward through the middle. Alieze and Marouedi occupy the left and right central spaces to press opponents and win the ball back in the middle third. This unit works to connect the defense to the attack by finding short passes through the lines.

In the final third, the team relies on a lone striker, Hondo, to lead the line. The attack is built by finding Hondo through long balls or quick vertical passes from the midfield. Hondo must hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to push up the pitch. The wide midfielders and attacking midfielders look to support him by making runs into the box or cutting inside to create shooting opportunities. The team presses from the front to force mistakes in the opposition half.

Everton creates tactical advantages through a dense midfield that is difficult to pass through. By using five players in the middle, Mochtary and his teammates can achieve numerical superiority against teams playing with fewer midfielders. The defensive unit maintains compactness, making it hard for opponents to find gaps between the lines.
