The midfield consists of a double pivot to provide some security behind the heavy attack. Tymoshchuk works to shield the defense and intercept passes, while Zinchenko acts as a connector by dropping deep or stepping up to break the line with his passing range. The front line is built around a powerful four man attack. Shevchenko and Rebrov operate as two central forwards, where Shevchenko uses his explosive pace and movement to stretch the defense. On the wings, Yarmolenko and Konoplyanka provide width and are expected to cut inside to shoot or cross. This group presses in waves to force mistakes from the opposing defenders.

This lineup offers significant advantages when attacking in heavy numbers. The team creates wide overloads through the movement of Luzhnyy and Mykolenko, which isolates Konoplyanka and Yarmolenko in one on one situations. By pushing four players high, the Red Devils can also implement a high press to win the ball back in dangerous areas. This creates immediate opportunities to attack a disorganized defense.
